Jonas - 12/13 months!; Josie - 3.75

Mama is behind on her blogging so buckle up. While there are many new developments, these kids remain adorable (unbiased opinion).

Josie's 44/45 month stats: 42 lbs, 42 inches, 5T (sometimes even 6T) in clothing, size 9 shoes

Josie's favorite books: Corduroy; Peppa's Easter Surprise; Is it Passover Yet?

Josie's favorite movies/tv shows: Tangled, Toy Story (1, 2, and 3); Daniel Tiger, Bubble Guppies

Josie's greatest hits: She is full of hilarity and wisdom and sass, as per usual. Read on.

Joe Cocker's You are so Beautiful came on the radio. We were at a red light and I was gazing at Josie thinking he wrote this song for her. She asked what the song was (as she does these days) and I told her. She exclaimed: "I'm beautiful!" Yes you are, sweet girl. I hope you always remember that.

And less heart-warming...
Josie: "I didn't know there was an armpit on my body!"

Josie: "I'm not going to Atlanta because it's stinky and I'm not going to college and I'm going to stay home forever."
Jonathan: "We'll see how you feel in a little while."

Josie: "What's a hare?"
Me: "It's another word for rabbit or bunny. It's a synonym, which means the words mean the same thing."
Josie: "I love cinnamon!"
Me: "Syn-no-nym"
Josie: "I know! It's yummy on bananas."

Me: "Josie, who should be president?"
Josie: "I don't know."
Me: "A boy or a girl?"
Josie: "Me!"
Me: "Oh, that's a great idea. What would your rules be?"
Josie: "Keep the world clean. Keep the plants safe. Keep the tables clean with presents on them."

Josie's new tricks
Josie has begun playing organized (organized is generous) soccer. I am the "coach". I knew it was going to be a ridiculous experience but even I underestimated the extent to which that would be true.

For example, these photos were taken while the ball was in play. "What ball?" you ask. Exactly.

In classic Josie fashion, her interests are dynamic and opposing. Josie has also taken a serious interest in make-up. It's a thing.

I present to you: Josie's make-up tutorial and pre-wedding preparation video.

This isn't really a new trick but how does someone wake up looking like this?

Finally, we're in the midst of a level 9 bandaid obsession. What is level 9 you ask? Who knows. I'm tired and making things up. :)

Jonas' 12 months stats: 27 lbs, 31 inches; 12-18 mos in clothing, size 5 diapers, hazel eyes, and 2 teeth!

Jonas' 13 months stats: 28 lbs, 31 inches; 18-24 mos in clothing, size 5 diapers, hazel eyes, and still only 2 teeth!

And we have vocabulary/animal sounds lift-off!:

Early April: Jonas fell in love with airplane identification and has decided airplanes say "Woooooo" - he is mid-woo in the below photo

April 5, 2019: Jonas panted and barked like a dog...and hooted like an owl
April 13, 2019: "Cheese"
April 27, 2019: Jonas approached our stuffed rainbow snake and said "ssssss"

Likes: His mama, the keyboard/making music with every household item possible, throwing/kicking balls, dancing, airplanes, the stinky feet game
Dislikes: Sleeping through the night
Tolerates: Going to sleep!! This is as of 13 months.

Jonas's new tricks
Jonas has really come online since last blog. He can do so much. For example, use utensils. Sort of.
He celebrates EVERYTHING with big hoorays.
And he LOVES this keyboard. And dancing. With more celebrating.

As I alluded to earlier, he is SLEEP TRAINED. Honestly, I feel this is my greatest accomplishment in life to date. I'll hold for your applause. I could post a photo of my sleeping child as evidence but just trust me on this one.

Another milestone for which I also have no evidence is more of an anecdote. We went to a youth production at the Palace called "Junie B. Jones". It's about a little girl entering first grade and the silliness that ensues. All four Young family members were in attendance. There's one scene where the lunch lady announces "tuna noodle casserole" as today's lunch and all of the kids on stage hold their noses with many exclamations of "pee-eww!" and "stinky!". Well, Jonas must have remembered those words from the stinky feet game we play and he started laughing! As soon as he began laughing, everyone around us began to turn around and laugh at his laughing so hard. It is something I won't forget.

In other Young family news...

Mama got a new job! This might be tough to read but I'm at Indeed and loving it.
We threw Jonas a birthday party!
We had the best family visit!

We got a Double BOB stroller and it is life changing! Just look at those little stinkers holding hands while napping. Gah!

Daddy and his youth theatre company provided the pre-game entertainment for the local baseball team and we got to go on the field! Jonas kept trying to run onto the field and it was difficult to contain him. Do we have a future baseball player?!

We celebrated Easter, matched our Grandma, and met the Easter Bunny!

AND Passover, because equality. The seder was very serious, complete with a fancy seder plate and plastic matzo.

We also celebrated Mother's Day!

And...
Jonas and Josie continue to be obsessed with each other.
Until next time...

XOXO,
J Cubed
