Jonas -10/11 months; Josie - 3.5

Josie's 42/43 month stats: 42 lbs, 41 inches, 5T in clothing, size 9 shoes

Josie's favorite book: Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Josie's favorite movies/tv shows: Toy Story, Daniel Tiger

Josie's greatest hits: She full of hilarity and wisdom and sass, as per usual. Read on.

Josie: "Recycling means you make something new with trash."

In the same day Josie said "Mama, I love laying on your heart" as she was snuggled up next to me on the couch and then "I was a little furious with you" after a 30 minute standoff.

I told her I applied two coats of nail polish (pink glitter, her favorite) to help it stay on longer. Josie was washing her hands the next day and said: "My nail polish is going to stay on because of the jackets."
Me: "The what...?
Josie: "The jackets of nail polish!"
Me: OH! The coats of nail polish. Of course!"

Jonathan: "Josie, we are taking you to the movies as a reward because we know you've been trying so hard to sleep in your own bed!"
Josie: "Yeah and I'm trying to sleep in your bed too!"
*This has led us to purchase a king sized bed...

I was helping Josie get into her car seat and very gently bumped her arm and head. She immediately exclaimed: "Mama, you're killing me!" Ahem.

Josie's new tricks
Josie is becoming quite the soccer star. We do something called a bounce-kick, which is exactly as it sounds. Don't worry - she aims for balance and there's a 70/30 split between princess and dress-up/sports to date. Let's see how that shakes out over time. :-)

This really isn't a new development but the range of her facial expressions is pretty impressive.

She's also figured out chopsticks. At age 3.

Instead of vocab we'll review his likes and dislikes:

Dislikes: Teething. Going to sleep. Doing anything he doesn't want to do. Eating semi-solid food.
Tolerates: Wearing shoes

Jonas' new tricks
There comes a point in every child's life when they take the reins and learn the magical word: no.

He can stand...

AND HE CAN WALK! He took his first steps with Mama and Uncle Arya on February 2, 2019 (3 of them!) and has built his way up to 7. We played the Eye of the Tiger for inspiration and it worked!

He can also talk! Jonas truly hates being a baby. He's not into it and never has been. He's trying to sprout as quickly as possible. He's already said the following:

Some time in late December: "Dada" (obviously - why say Mama first? I only spent 9 months personally growing you and several hours sending you into this world through my BODY. But fine. Dada it is.

Some time in late January: "Baba" (bottle)
Some time later in January: "Hi Dad"
February 3rd: "Mama"

He has also mastered the Winston Churchill mug. Jonas is very advanced -- moving from one political great (John McCain) to another.

In other Young family news...

Jonas and Josie continue to be obsessed with each other...

The Young Family band has formed

Uncle Arya visited and met Jonas for the first time! Josie appointed herself Arya's stylist and went to town on his hair with every single hair bow she owns. He was a VERY good sport.

Grammy visited! She took care of Jonas alll week while Grandma visited California.

Grammy built Josie a castle made of felt! We had lots of fun making arts and crafts (or arts and Krause, as Jonathan likes to say).

We also got to visit with Cousin Lily and Brad! Josie was not interested in documenting the experience but Jonas was here for it. Lily and Brad were on the Broadway tour of Waitress and it was AMAZING! We felt so proud to see them on stage!

It was also Papa's birthday! We are so thankful for you and glad you were born!

Until next time! We'll have at least 2 big announcements coming from this family and no -- one of them does not include any new human additions.

Also, just for fun...here's a pic of the two who started it all. Just look at us - so young, so full of life.

Xoxo,
J Quad
